The family-owned, Blue Mountains attraction, Scenic World, is an all-season spot, which can be enjoyed all year round. However, Scenic World opening hours change seasonally so guests must have a good look at their tickets at the time of booking. Read on to make the best of your experience!

Closed on

Scenic World operates every day of the week, even on Christmas and New Year's Eve!

Best time to visit Scenic World

Scenic World, with over 140 km of walking trails and three exciting rides, occupies a massive area but can still get pretty crowded during certain times of the year — school holidays, Easter Long Weekend, Boxing Day - New Years Day and other public holidays. We’d recommend planning your visit keeping in mind the kind of experience you desire.

Peak season vs low season

  • The high tourist season is usually during school holidays, which fall during April, July, September, and December. These months see the usual tourist rush, but also have a lot of locals dropping in. December, January and February, the Summer months, are also very popular with tourists because of the pleasant and warm weather.
  • As March and April come, the rains start, making Scenic World slightly less crowded. The misty mountains are also a sight to behold, so many guests come in especially to enjoy those views. Scenic World essentially is an all-season attraction – if you want to avoid the crowds, try to avoid the school holidays and the peak Summer season.

Weekday vs weekend

  • Being less than 2 hours away from Sydney, Scenic World is a great spot for day tours. Therefore, weekends are very crowded and the waiting time for rides may reach 30-60 mins. But the energy is also high during the weekend, especially because of families, kids and tourists.

  • If you want to spend a more peaceful and quiet time, pick a midweek day, such as a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. It is also best to avoid Fridays and Mondays if you want to avoid the crowd, as many may like to extend the weekend.
