While the first Theatre Royal was established in 1833, the venue was rebuilt in 1976 by Harry Seidler. Revamped, refurbished, and reborn multiple times in its lifetime, the theatre has evolved into a modern venue for several Australian and global productions including ballets, plays, and musicals. Located in Sydney's CBD, the Theatre Royal is one of Australia's most decorated cultural institutions.

The Broadway-style Theatre Royal Sydney has a seating capacity of around 1,200 people spread across two areas; the Stalls and the Circle.

Circle

  • While the Circle is further divided into three sections, the Stalls have staggered rows which become longer as you move backwards.
  • Seats 14-29 in rows A, B, C, and D in the Circle offer the best and unobstructed views of the stage thanks to the gentle slope and layout of the area.
  • All seats in rows AA and BB and seats 24-39 in rows A, B, and C in the Stalls also offer clear views of the stage.

Stalls

  • Accessible seating is available in row N in the Circle. We recommend booking seats in rows R, S, and T of the Stalls and rows L and M of the Circle if you limited mobility but are okay with some stairs.
  • Avoid seats 3,4, 40,41 in row AA, seats 3-6 and 38-41 in row BB, seats 4-8 and 35-40 in row B, and seats 30-34 in row M since they are at an extreme angle offering restricted views of the stage.
