After 5 long years of going back and forth on the various versions of Hamlet, Brett Dean, Grawemeyer Award Winner, composed the opera after much persuasion by Glyndebourne, the British opera company. With expert direction by Neil Armfield, the premiere took place on 11 June 2017, creating waves among theatre fanatics and drama lovers, receiving several accolades in the process. The Story

Hamlet is the story of the Prince of Denmark who faces deceit, seeks revenge, suffers rejection, and goes through unforeseen tragedy. Faced with a dilemma after losing his father and accepting his mother’s remarriage, Hamlet goes out to find answers by seeking revenge. This opera takes you through grief and lost love in ways that you can’t imagine. With scenes depicting violence, Hamlet will still encapsulate one’s attention throughout the show.
