Director Laurent Pelly, known for his novel approach, drives a contemporary edge to Massenet's original French libretto. The Opera Australia Orchestra is set to bring out all the colors of Massenet's writing, from the delicate harp and flute solos to the full-bodied romantic swells. Sung in English, this abridged version of the opera makes for a perfect introduction to the art form for newcomers, while still offering plenty of delights for seasoned opera-goers. The Story

Cinderella (Lucette) lives with her loving father Pandolfe, her spiteful stepmother Madame de la Haltière, and her two wicked stepsisters, Noémie and Dorothée. As the family prepares for Prince Charming’s grand ball, kindhearted Cinderella is left behind to dream a different life. Thankfully, and with supernatural support from her fairy godmother, Cinderella makes it to the big celebration. But as midnight approaches, she must make a choice and flee back to reality, leaving the prince in possession of a glass slipper. Will the magical contraption be enough to reunite the destined lovers?

Ferry: Ferry 3 from Barangaroo, Wharf 1 will take you to Circular Quay, Wharf 4 - a 10-minute walk from the theater.
